The Neighborhood

Innovation in Action

In partnership with independent early learning centers in Boston, Neighborhood Villages pilots and tests programs created to transform the early education and care delivery system, inclusive of how it operates and what it provides to families, providers, and educators. In The Neighborhood, our innovation lab, we test and evaluate solutions designed to scale statewide.

The Neighborhood

Neighborhood Villages provides centralized supports - from professional development to funded staffing positions - to a network of early learning centers across Greater Boston. We’re modeling a school district - for early education and care.

The Neighborhood is proof that, together, we can build an early education and care system that works. For everyone.

What The Neighborhood Provides

Workforce services to help early educators access the professional development, credentials, and coursework they need to begin or advance their careers.

Teaching and learning resources - including our play-based curriculum Learning Through Exploration, instructional coaching in classrooms, and annual Professional Development Day - to ensure that children reach developmental and literary milestones.

Wraparound supports to increase program capacity to meet the most pressing needs of children and families facing adversity, from mental health to housing and nutrition.
